Festival memories 2023

The second Girvan Arts Festival was even more successful than the first one, and it’s thanks to everyone who spoke at the festival, everyone who attended the events, and all the helpers at the Community Gardens, the Library, the Wee School Art Place and the South Parish Church, along with everybody who shared, tweeted and posted about the festival on social media, and spread the word in more traditional ways.

The number of ticket sales doubled on last year, so, despite ticket prices being halved for 2023, our income didn’t suffer. We rely on donations and grants to keep the festival going, but commission on sales at the art exhibition and the ticket money are still very important in keeping the festival afloat.

Our Patron, international playwright Douglas Maxwell, opened the festival with a talk on how Girvan, the town where he was born and bred, shaped his life and his work. Although the event was sold out, we are very excited to announce that you can stream the video of his event here if you missed it.

Here are a few more memories from this year’s festival….

Thanks to Phoebe Crawford, Susan Arbuckle, Jack Lowe and Gill Lynch for the photographs.

Here is a reminder of all the wonderful speakers who took part in the 2023 Girvan Arts Festival.
