Girvan Arts Festival 2024 Rural Transport

This year, thanks to generous funding from the TNL Community Fund, we have been able to offer free transport to and from the rural villages surrounding Girvan, supplementing the public transport services when they are not available, to allow everyone to attend the full breadth of events going on at the festival.

Using the South Ayrshire Community Transport fleet, we aim to be able to get people home to Lendalfoot, Ballantrae, Colmonell, Pinwherry, Pinmore, Barrhill, Barr, Dailly, Old Dailly, Crosshill, Maidens and Kirkoswald after the last event on Saturday, Music in the Garden, which finishes at 8pm.

On Sunday morning, for those villages with no public transport service, our buses will bring people into Girvan for 10:45am, in time for the first  event of the festival.

And after the The Newmilns & Galston Brass Band finish their performance (6pm on Sunday) the buses will take people back home. We will also, if demand exists, do a mid afternoon run for those who want to head back early, or come in for the later events at the festival. Seats on the buses will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

To book any of these services, you must have at least one valid ticket for a festival event. Please contact us by email stating your name, the village you live in, and which of the services you wish to use. If you live outside the villages, we may still be able to pick you up or drop you off – please add your address.

If you wish to attend the Festival film, ‘Brassed Off’, on the Friday night, and you have no transport, please let the library know when you are booking your ticket, and we will try our best to arrange transport for you.
