Author Margaret Morrell spent 20 years researching the history of Turnberry Airfield, publishing the most detailed account of the airfield during both world wars, and the Loch Doon School of Aerial Gunnery, ever written.
Speaking to many former airmen and others who worked at the airfield, Margaret gathered together a wonderful selection of personal accounts, original photographs and other memorabilia.
Most of the airmen that Margaret interviewed for the book have since died, but each person who died or suffered in a crash is written about in detail.
Tragically, Margaret died a year after the book was published. Her husband, Tony, will share her story, and the chronicle of those who fought in two world wars.
