Girvan Arts Festival 2023        

Lex, reared in Barr, has worked for forty years building and mending boats at Alexander Noble & Sons’ boatyard at Newton Kennedy in Girvan.

A family man, Lex has seen the change from working with predominantly wooden fishing vessels, for which ‘Nobles’ is famous, to building steel boats for Scotland’s rapidly expanding fish-farming industry, and maintaining the UK and Ireland’s fleet of RNLI lifeboats.
