Girvan Arts Festival 2023        

Frances has sewed and embroidered all her life, taught by her mother and aunts. In her forties she enrolled on a City & Guilds Embroidery course at the local college, which was an eye-opener.

Learning new techniques about embroidery which she didn’t know existed, she was encouraged to visit galleries, museums, and quilt shows, taking in everything, not only textiles. Coming across ‘art quilts’, hanging on the wall, Frances was hooked, having always believed patchwork was meant just for bed coverings.
