Kate Dickie is a prominent Scottish actress, appearing in films such as Red Road, Prometheus and Filth, in television series like Pillars of the Earth and Game of Thrones, and on the stage, notably in Aalst, based on the true story of a couple who had killed their own children.

She won a BAFTA and a Scottish BAFTA for her debut film, Red Road, playing the role of security operative Jackie who recognises a face from her past on the screen. She also won a Montreal Festival of New Cinema best actress award for the same film, and  one another Scottish BAFTA best actress award for Couple in the Hole.

Kate is soon to have a brilliant role in Marvel series Loki and will also appear in the Williams Brothers’ series Boat Story for BBC. She was most recently seen in BBC’s Inside Man.

Kate, from a working class background, knew from an early age that she wanted to act, and it helped her cope with the many school moves she made around Scotland with her family in Wigtownshire, Galloway, Perthshire and Ayrshire.

Red Road is our Festival Film this year.
