Festival Film Club:

Our choice of festival film this year was inspired by one of our guest speakers, Kate Dickie.
Red Road is a 2006 psychological thriller film directed by Andrea Arnold and starring Kate Dickie, Tony Curran, Martin Compston, and Natalie Press. It tells the story of a CCTV security operator who observes a man from her past through her monitors. It is named after, and partly set at, the Red Road Flats in Balornock, Glasgow, Scotland, which were the tallest residential buildings in Europe at the time they were built.
The Observer polled several filmmakers and film critics who voted it as one of the best British films in the last 25 years.
Here’s the Blurb:
Jackie works as a CCTV operator. Each day she watches over a small part of the world, protecting the people living their lives under her gaze. One day a man appears on her monitor, a man she thought she would never see again, a man she never wanted to see again. Now she has no choice, she is compelled to confront him.
